Replacement cutter for the Lathe Duplicator (27130, sold separately), which attaches to almost any floor-model lathe and allows you to create precise duplicates of spindles, table legs and other turned projects.
Highly prized for its swirling, flowery grain patterns, Maple Burl seems almost to bloom as the wood is shaped on the lathe. The finished product has a remarkably satiny texture.Blank measures at least 5-1/4" long and at least 3/4" squareResin stabilizes the wood, beautifies the grain, and improves turning properties
Nova DVR Lathes combine the power and capacity of larger woodturning lathes with state of the art intelligent technology to make turning more efficient, fun and safe. Turn on the Nova DVR XP, and you'll be greeted with smooth, whisper-quiet operation, and rock steady turning. That's because its direct drive technology has no pulleys or belts to cause vibration, and it's solid cast iron construction absorbs what little there is. The DVR's smart motor features intelligent Adaptive Control software that produces optimum turning conditions for your specific projects. It measures the weight of the workpiece and adjusts the performance accordingly, and instantly shuts down power to the spindle if it senses chisel dig-ins or spindle lock. The lathe offers 5 preset speed settings to make setup nearly instantaneous. The head swivels 360° and locks at any position for outboard turning of large items.Features: Adaptive Control software assists you with your turning, measuring the weight of the workpiece and adjusting the performance accordinglyComputer controlled motor only draws as much power as it needs for the project being worked on. The DVR motor can save up to 80% energy and emissions over conventional motorsComputer control instantly cuts power to the spindle if it senses a chisel dig in, or if the spindle lock is on when wanting to turn the spindleProvides instant power when you need it. With it's 1.75 (115v)/2HP (220v) high torque motor, exceptional structural strength and smart design, it's not only easy to convert to outrigger work for larger bowls and to extend spindle capacity with add on beds, but the lathe has the power and capacity to handle the expansion with easeThe Nova DVR XP delivers incredibly smooth turning. With no belts or pulleys to cause vibration, a computer that automatically adjusts performance and solid cast iron construction, the DVR XP is one smooth operator5 favorite speeds function enables you to preselect your most used speeds, reducing setup timeHead swivels 360° and locks at any position, with detents at 0°, 22°, 45° and 90°. Nova Soft Jaws consist of four segments of high-quality soft nylon, which can be cut and customized by the user to their specific requirements. Simply turn them with a scraper to the required dimensions. This allows woodturners to make a special set of non-marring jaws for unique projects. It also allows nearly full diameter contact with the workpiece, since you can turn out to the exact diameter required. Nylon can be turned to shape using standard tools. They can be turned, sawn, drilled or tapped.Because they are made of nylon, they hold most woods without marking. Vibrant red color makes it easy to see profiles. By machining the profile after mounting, you can eliminate any errors that may have added up from mounting the jaws to the chuck, then to the spindle.Maximum contact with workpiece. Near full diameter contact is achievable, since you can turn out to the exact diameter required.Thick jaw body lets user profile any shape they wish, limited only by the fastening heads, which are embedded 22.5mm from the face of the jaws.Outer ring diameter when closed: 120mm (4.7").Thickness: 27mm (1").Tips for customizing the soft jaws:It is recommended to use a scraper that is about 1/2" wide, with an end that is 90° to the side of the scraper. It will cut on both sides and on the end.Recommended bevel angle is about 70 degrees. When scraping nylon, the tool rest must be as close to the work as possible and you must always use a light touch. Run your lathe at a speed between 1700 and 2000 rpm for best cutting. You must take extra care when machining the jaws so as not to hit to hit the screw heads.Features standard on all Nova Jaws:Nova chucks give you the same jaw fixing system and same insert/adaptor system across all chuck models. All accessory jaws in the range will fit all the chucks in the range for optimum flexibility. Some, however, are not recommended. See individual jaws for recommendations. Nova chucks are specially designed so the jaws cut into the wood, grip firmly in the contraction mode and provide high tear out strength.
