Nova DVR Lathes combine the power and capacity of larger woodturning lathes with state of the art intelligent technology to make turning more efficient, fun and safe. Turn on the Nova DVR XP, and you'll be greeted with smooth, whisper-quiet operation, and rock steady turning. That's because its direct drive technology has no pulleys or belts to cause vibration, and it's solid cast iron construction absorbs what little there is. The DVR's smart motor features intelligent Adaptive Control software that produces optimum turning conditions for your specific projects. It measures the weight of the workpiece and adjusts the performance accordingly, and instantly shuts down power to the spindle if it senses chisel dig-ins or spindle lock. The lathe offers 5 preset speed settings to make setup nearly instantaneous. The head swivels 360° and locks at any position for outboard turning of large items. Stand shown in image is sold separately.Features:Adaptive Control software assists you with your turning, measuring the weight of the workpiece and adjusting the performance accordingly.Computer controlled motor only draws as much power as it needs for the project being worked on. The DVR motor can save up to 80% energy and emissions over conventional motors.Computer control instantly cuts power to the spindle if it senses a chisel dig in, or if the spindle lock is on when wanting to turn the spindle.Provides instant power when you need it. With it's 1.75 (115v)/2HP (220v) high torque motor, exceptional structural strength and smart design, it's not only easy to convert to outrigger work for larger bowls and to extend spindle capacity with add on beds, but the lathe has the power and capacity to handle the expansion with ease. The Nova DVR XP delivers incredibly smooth turning. Nova's Pen Plus Jaws quickly convert your Nova chuck into a fast, accurate pen blank drilling tool. The large jaw profile provides a solid grip for all sizes of pen blanks, and a perfectly centered hole, every time. Being able to finely control the drill feed on your lathe helps to prevent break out on delicate pen walls. Pen Plus Jaws are also perfect for squaring up the pen blank ends after gluing in the tubes. But here's the "Plus" in Pen Plus—the heavy-duty design of the jaws means that they're also powerful enough to handle larger, longer spigot work. With an internal profile that accepts square turning blanks, and a rock solid grip over 1-1/2" long, the jaws perform admirably, with minimal vibration. Drills your pen blanks cleanly and accurately.Far faster than using a drill press. Also holds long, square stock firmly and accurately for wider project use beyond just pens.Fits all Nova chucksVery efficient for small run pen making - all operations are based around the lathe.Secured by two screws for each jaw segment.Rock solid grip over 1-1/2" long.Features standard on all Nova Jaws:Nova chucks give you the same jaw fixing system and same insert/adapter system across all chuck models. All accessory jaws in the range will fit all the chucks in the range for optimum flexibility. Some, however, are not recommended. See individual jaws for recommendations.Nova chucks are specially designed so the jaws cut into the wood, grip firmly in the contraction mode and provide high tear out strength.
Makes sharpening carving and lathe tools faster, easier and more precise. Slots in the wheel allow you to "see through" it so you can see the cutting edge as it is being sharpened.
