Turn on the Nova DVR 2024, and you'll be greeted with smooth, whisper-quiet operation, and rock steady turning. That's because its direct drive technology has no pulleys or belts to cause vibration, and its solid cast iron construction absorbs what little there is. The DVR's smart motor features intelligent Adaptive Control software that produces optimum turning conditions for your specific projects. It measures the weight of the workpiece and adjusts the performance accordingly, and instantly shuts down power to the spindle if it senses chisel dig-ins or spindle lock. An exclusive wireless remote is included to allow on/off control and speed changes from any position, and the lathe offers 10 preset speed settings to make setup nearly instantaneous. The head swivels 360° and locks at any position for outboard turning of large items.Features: 2.3 HP direct-drive DVR motor offers excellent powerIncredible speed range, with a very low minimum of 100 RPM up to an incredibly high maximum of 5000 RPM, makes the Nova 2024 DVR Wood Lathe the perfect solution for a wide variety of projects from small pens to large bowls and plattersHead swivels 360° and locks at any position, with detents at 0°, 22°, 45° and 90°. Here's a project that offers the kind of fun that keeps on giving. As the builder, you'll get a chance to polish your turning skills making the mallets, cart parts, wheels and even the balls! Others will see this as the hard part, but if you enjoy lathe work, the effort will seem like woodworking bliss. Then, after the "tough" part is through, the fun just continues as you put this handmade set to work whenever friends and family gather. Really, you're the only one who can't lose here!
These special 25mm extended jaws are designed to act like a pin chuck, expanding into a pre-bored hole. This is an especially useful holding method for bowls with a free form edge. A big advantage over pin chucks is that you don't have to bore to an exact size - any size between the minimum and just under the maximum expansion will do. The longer jaw length allows for a very powerful spigot grip for smaller work like lace bobbins (up to 6" in length) and delicate pots. The jaws also have a dovetail for mounting small bowls (up to 6" in diameter).
