The Powermatic 3520B lathe is the third evolution of the time-honored lathe with many new and improved features. The 3520B retained all the features of the prior models such as the sliding headstock, electronic variable speed with low- and high-speed ranges and the spindle lock. The enhanced features include a digital RPM readout, built-in spindle indexing on the head stock and a redesigned tailstock with internal storage, chrome-trimmed handwheels and a laser-etched, self-ejecting quill. The tool rest assembly also has improved locking on a new profile tool rest that can accommodate an optional dust hood assembly that travels with the tool rest. Additional features include a set of dead centers to hold a spindle for visual comparison, a two-position mount for the optional bed extension, a sliding hammer knockout rod with brass tip, an attached tool caddy and a metal shelf for tool storage.Features:Sliding headstock with electronic variable speed and digital RPM readout for accurate speed adjustmentsSpindle lock and built in spindle indexing on the headstock for drilling hole patterns, routing flutes, and other equally spaced featuresSet of dead centers which hold a spindle for visual comparisonRedesigned tool rest geometry allows for better chisel movement along the too lrestLaser-etched quill is self ejectingTwo-position mount for the optional bed extensionOptional dust assembly that travels with the toolrestBrass tipped knockout bar concentrates the action in the sliding handle; the brass tip will not damage drive centersAttached tool caddy allows convenient access to centers, wrenches, etc.Tailstock has internal storage for additional accessoriesChrome trimmed handwheels are ergonomic for a comfortable feelStandard Equipment:2HP TEFC MotorSafety shield3" face plate and face plate wrench14" tool restMultiple ball-bearing live centerBrass tipped knockout rodDrive centerSpindle lock
Made from high quality cast iron, with CAD designed gussets at critical points, this stand makes a stable, rock steady base for both the Nova 1624-44 and the Nova DVR XP lathes (48465 and 45311, sold separately).Technical Details:Solid cast iron construction.CAD designed and tested for optimum strength.Stand pieces are cast from a high grade cast iron with solid section thickness and CAD generated gussets at critical points.Designed to withstand extremely high stresses with practically no distortion.Compact for easier mobility and set up, but sturdy enough to cope with the big capacity of the NOVA 1624 and DVR XP lathes.Strong, robust feet for mounting to the floor with provisions for leveling bolts on uneven surfaces.Stand allows complete access on all sides of the lathe.Holes in feet allow stand to be bolted to the floor, avoiding any 'walking' when roughing or turning unwieldy items. No collection area under lathe for sawdust build-up. Sawdust drops straight to floor.Easy Assembly.
Nova DVR Lathes combine the power and capacity of larger woodturning lathes with state of the art intelligent technology to make turning more efficient, fun and safe. Turn on the Nova DVR XP, and you'll be greeted with smooth, whisper-quiet operation, and rock steady turning. That's because its direct drive technology has no pulleys or belts to cause vibration, and it's solid cast iron construction absorbs what little there is. The DVR's smart motor features intelligent Adaptive Control software that produces optimum turning conditions for your specific projects. It measures the weight of the workpiece and adjusts the performance accordingly, and instantly shuts down power to the spindle if it senses chisel dig-ins or spindle lock. The lathe offers 5 preset speed settings to make setup nearly instantaneous. The head swivels 360° and locks at any position for outboard turning of large items.Features: Adaptive Control software assists you with your turning, measuring the weight of the workpiece and adjusting the performance accordinglyComputer controlled motor only draws as much power as it needs for the project being worked on. The DVR motor can save up to 80% energy and emissions over conventional motorsComputer control instantly cuts power to the spindle if it senses a chisel dig in, or if the spindle lock is on when wanting to turn the spindleProvides instant power when you need it. With it's 1.75 (115v)/2HP (220v) high torque motor, exceptional structural strength and smart design, it's not only easy to convert to outrigger work for larger bowls and to extend spindle capacity with add on beds, but the lathe has the power and capacity to handle the expansion with easeThe Nova DVR XP delivers incredibly smooth turning. With no belts or pulleys to cause vibration, a computer that automatically adjusts performance and solid cast iron construction, the DVR XP is one smooth operator5 favorite speeds function enables you to preselect your most used speeds, reducing setup timeHead swivels 360° and locks at any position, with detents at 0°, 22°, 45° and 90°.
