With both top- and bottom-mounted bearings, this beading bit lets you cut further into the panel, and in a variety of configurations, both freehand and in a table. It also doubles as a 1/4" round over bit - just raise the bit until only the bottom radius is exposed. Two flutes and 5/8" bearings. Top quality bits that meet the high demands of Rockler Woodworking and Hardware.
This premium solid carbide bit cuts dadoes with crisp, clean edges on both sides of the dado. The downward spiral forces the chips down into the groove, eliminating the tendency for wood fibers to chip out the face. Also works great for cutouts and edgework. 1/2" shank. Application: Grooves and dadoes in single-sided veneers and laminates. Freud's solid carbide down spiral bits are ideal for smooth, chip-free routing where chip removal is not a problem. Cuts all composition materials, plywoods, hardwoods, and softwoods. Use on CNC and other automatic routers as well as hand-held and table-mounted portable routers.

The ball-bearing pilots on these bits make it virtually impossible to cut too deep, eliminating expensive and time-consuming rework. The bearing guide is on the bottom of the shaft, below the blades, which lets you trim face frames flush with cabinet sides, shelf caps flush with shelves, or veneers and laminates flush with the substrate. The cutter can also be used for template work where the template is below the worked material or, alternatively, with a router mounted in a router table where the template is above the worked material. In both cases it is suitable for straight and particularly shaped patterns.
