Powermatic 10'' Table Saw 3HP w/30'' Fence & Rout-R-Lift

The award winning PM2000 table saw sets a new standard for innovation with an array of patented features and massive body design. It boasts the heaviest cast iron base in its class that virtually eliminates table vibration. The cast iron tables are oversized, and the push button arbor lock is accessible from above the table top to eliminate the need for dual arbor wrenches. The quick-release riving knife design helps reduce the chance of kickback. The blade tilt scale has adjustable angle indicators for repetitive bevel cuts. Built-in retractable omni-directional caster system mobilizes your table saw. A wide stance, heavy-duty trunnion and concave teeth on the trunnion gears promote easier raising and tilting of saw blade. Poly-V drive belt system results in quieter, more efficient power transfer from the motor to the arbor with virtually no vibration and less heat build up. Built-in dust collection port with sloped cabinet floor and convenient access to the inside of the saw cabinet make for simple clean-up. The saw has a proprietary safety switch with magnetic interlock, and the stop button can be knee activated.Quick release riving knife greatly reduces binding/kickback riskBuilt-in retractable caster system (patent pending) for immediate shop mobility Push button arbor lock (patent pending) for rapid blade change Poly-V drive belt system delivers efficient, quiet operationWide stance heavy-duty trunnion for stability and smooth blade positioningAdjustable angle indicators (patent pending) on the blade bevel scale for repeatable bevel cutsIndustrial-duty Accu-Fence System ensures accurate cutsEnclosed cabinet with cast iron base for rigidityHeavy-duty deluxe micro-adjust miter gauge with aluminum extruded 13" extension fence, for good workpiece support and fine angle adjustments.Precision ground, high luster, cast iron table top with front and rear edge bevel to prevent catching of miter gauge on table edge Heavy-duty chrome plated handwheels contribute to smooth trunnion/arbor movementIndependent leaf blade guard and anti-kickback pawls promote safe cuttingIndustrial magnetic controls, and jumbo stop switch is reachable with the kneeBuilt-in 4" port for dust collectionStandard Equipment:TEFC Motor with magnetic controlsStandard left and right cast iron extension wings Accu-Fence System with 30" to the right cutting capacityMelamine-surface extension table, legs and Rout-R-Lift Arbor wrench Motor cover Blade, power cord plug not included

Purpleheart by the Piece-1/8" Thickness

Purpleheart by the Piece-1/8" Thickness
$4.99

True to its name, purpleheart boasts vibrant purple heartwood, and a fine, satiny texture. Initially a dull brown, it takes on its brilliant tone shortly after the wood is cut. The sapwood is creamy, pinkish cinnamon. It has exceptionally high bending and crushing strength, is dimensionally stable, and is extremely resistant to decay. All boards are machined S4S to 1/8", 1/4", 1/2" and 3/4" thicknesses. Thin boards are well-suited for edging, veneering, marquetry, sides for decorative boxes, bending stock and bent laminations, while the thicker boards are ideal for furniture, paneling, cabinet doors, moldings, drawer sides, fine jewelry boxes and whatever else your imagination can dream up!Alternate name: Peltogyne.Tree: Usually tall, with a height of about 100 to 150 feet and a diameter of up to 48 inches, usually between 18 and 36 inches.Heartwood: Initially dull brown, rapidly changing to a bright, vibrant purple. Prolonged exposure darkens wood to a dark-purplish brown or dark brown, but the original color can be preserved with a UV inhibitor. Color variation among boards is reported to be moderate to high. Presence of minerals in some boards may cause uneven coloration and steaming is reported to affect the color. Light & Air-Induced Changes: Treatment against the effects of ultra-violet rays maintainss the original color of the wood. Treatment with Armorall, the car finish product, under lacquer is reported to hold the color well.Grain: Typically straight, occasionally wavy or irregular.Texture: Medium to fine.Luster: Medium to high.Movement: Very dimensionally stable.Natural Durability: Highly resistant to attack by decay fungi, very resistant to dry-wood termites, and somewhat resistant to attack by marine borers. Also reported to be resistant to chemicals such as acids.Cutting Resistance: Purpleheart is moderately difficult to saw. Tools usually require frequent sharpening. A reduced cutting angle of 15 degrees is recommended, especially when planing and moulding material with interlocked or wavy grain. Nailing: The wood requires to be pre-bored, but nail-holding capabilities are reported to be good.Steam Bending: The wood steam bends fairly well.Strength Properties: Bending strength in the air-dry condition is very high, and crushing strength is exceptionally high. It does not mar or dent easily, and is very heavy and dense.

Miters depend on end grain-to-end grain glue joints, which can be weak and subject to failure. Dividing your miters in two to build an octagonal shape creates twice as many opportunities for trouble. Our author solved the challenge by painstakingly tuning his saw's miter settings and adding pentagon-shaped decorative splines at every miter.
